Aflatoun Young Leaders (AYL) – Youth showing seeds of sustainability

A movement from self to society

The Aflatoun Young Leaders (AYL) project is based on the the principle of “Barefoot Bankers,” which is empowering youth from underprivileged communities to become agents of change within their societies.

AYL project typically targets individuals aged 15 to 25. It provides opportunities for the youth for
  • Leadership Development: The project emphasizes the cultivation of leadership skills, encouraging participants to take initiative and inspire their peers. They become positive role models for other children and youth. Through workshops and mentorship, youth learn how to organize community projects, advocate for social issues, and drive positive change.
  • Engage in positive dialogue with adults or significant others: AYL promotes active participation in local communities. They engage in meaningful and constructive conversations with adults and significant others, focusing on fostering an open and supportive atmosphere. By prioritizing positive dialogue, they develop and strengthen relationships, resolve conflicts more effectively, and create a deeper connection based on trust and collaboration.
  • Peer learning: The project connects young leaders with like-minded individuals. By building a network of support, participants can share resources, collaborate on projects, and amplify their impact.
AYLs are guided by MelJol to make informed decisions about their life choices and these young leaders serve as catalysts in their communities, sharing socio-financial knowledge with their peers through discussions, training sessions, and community campaigns. Through AYL, these youth become both learners and leaders, driving positive transformation in their communities.
